Lima (F) is a 7yo American Bulldog. She is currently living with her foster mom, and canine foster sister in an apartment building.
Lima is house and crate trained. At 7 years old, Lima is all about enjoying the relaxed life and likes to sleep a lot of her day away and get cuddles, but she always up for walks and adventures! Although Lima is 7 don't let her age fool you- this girl can turn on the jets when motivated! Lima recently caught a squirrel and might have snacked on it if her foster mom hadn't intervened!
Lima can be nervous of new people approaching initially, but warms up quickly and loves to be loved. She is very affectionate and loving with her people, and loves to be the center of attention! She appreciates people approaching slowly, and could meet children who are calm and well behaved, but wouldn't be comfortable at a birthday party. Lima lives in an apartment building and can give out a little huff if she hears noises in the hall, but settles quickly when told to settle down.
Lima loves doing training and is very food motivated, although she is a true American Bully and can be pushy! If you give her an inch, she'll take a mile! Lima would benefit from a consistent and strong handler who can be fair but firm if she is trying to push the limits.
Lima lives with her foster sister and is happy to calmly coexist, but will give a growl if her foster sister is feeling hyper or approaches while she is sleeping. Lima did get in fights with female dogs in her previous home, but does well with calm and well balanced pups in a structured environment. She would be happiest in an only-dog home, or with another calm and well behaved dog if owners could manage their interactions during the 6 month transition period. Lima has not been tested with cats and may be best suited to a home without cats (we will not be doing cat tests during the COVID pandemic).
Here is what her foster mom has to say about her:
"Lima is an amazing girl. She is working on building her confidence and needs a strong handler to continue to put in work with her. She'll push you at first to see what she can get away with but is very smart and learns the expectations quick. She is the type of girl that if you give her an inch she'll take a mile so you really need to set clear expectations at the beginning and once she gets it, she'll blow you away. I absolutely love having Lima around. She is a fun, quirky, wiggly, 7 year old girl who loves attention and her people. She is absolutely fantastic on leash and is also so happy to be out and about with you. Whoever adopts Lima is a very lucky individual!"
