Limerick - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Limerick is a 3yo Collie X. She currently lives with her foster parents in an apartment.

Limerick is house and crate trained. She is a smart girl who loves her humans! She is eager to learn and can have selective listening ears at times. Limerick is working on her on-leash reactivity. She gets hyper-focused and overstimulated on leash and will bark and lunge at other dogs. She is working on ignoring distractions while out on walks and deferring to her foster mom for behaviour cues instead of taking matters into her own hands. This will be a skill that Limerick will continue to build over time with patience, consistency and a confident handler.

Limerick does get along with other dogs as long as she is introduced properly. She had two Boston terrier house guests for a few weeks in her foster home and they all coexisted peacefully. She prefers to keep her toys and food to herself (don't we all?!). She is a little bit nervous when it comes to unpredictable situations so would do best in a home with adults only or older, dog savvy kids. Limerick is looking for an experienced owner who will continue her training and work with her quirks!

Here's what Limerick's foster mom has to say about her:

"Limerick is a happy girl with lots of love to give and is looking for the same in return. She loves to receive and give affection to those around her. She can be quite the goofball and loves to play. Although she is reactive to dogs out on leash, I believe with the right fit, a furry sibling would be great for her. Once properly introduced and with time to settle in, she is very good at playing with a small dog, making sure to be gentle, especially with reminders. She is very smart and picks up training very quickly, but with this comes some selective listening skills. She is learning to walk like a nice girl out on leash and loves to be outside. When her energy is either met physically and mentally she is just a little snuggle bug ready to curl up next to you- she would love it if she is allowed up on furniture but is learning quickly that that's not always allowed. If you have the patience to help show this girl the ropes, you will have endless snuggles and kisses coming your way!"
