Pippie is being fostered in Waterloo, ON.
Pippie (F) is a 6yo Husky. She is currently living with her foster parents all by herself so she gets all of the attention! Pippie was adopted from us in 2018 and lived happily with a little human sibling, but due to no fault of her own she is back in rescue looking for a new home.
Pippie is house and crate trained. She is a calm girl who loves all people, and just wants to be the center of attention! She enjoys being groomed - which is good because she sheds a lot! - and loves car rides. Anything to be a part of the adventure!
Pippie is independent around other dogs and prefers to have her people all to herself. She has been babysat in homes with other dogs and does well calmly coexisting with them, but does need proper introductions. Sometimes Pippie can be reactive to other dogs on leash, but with a bit of guidance she walks well and ignores them. Her foster family doesn't experience any leash reactivity, but her future forever home will need to be confident providing guidance to make sure this continues in her forever home.
On leash Pippie walks well, but can get distracted easily by other dogs and small animals. When she arrived in care she was overweight and didn't have much food drive, but now she is building a food drive and working on paying more attention to her people. Pippie LOVES the snow and LOVES her walks. She could walk all day if you'd let her! That being said, she is generally lazy and calm inside and will just find a spot to curl up and nap in the corner.
Pippie enjoys training and has made some great strides on commands and impulse control. She is excellent at holding "place" and will even stay there for exciting things like new people coming and going, or other calm dogs walking around the room. She is a very content, happy low-medium energy girl who just loves being around her people and pleasing them.
Here is what Pippie's foster mom has to say about her:
"Pippie is an excellent dog. She is playful but can also settle when asked and is very tolerant. Her favourite command is place and she knows it well. She is very intelligent and a fast learner. She loves being outside and going on walks and gets very excited when it snows. Pippie could do well in many different settings whether is was a family home, an apartment, or many more. She is very flexible and loves to be in the middle of the action. Her favourite thing is belly rubs and she is very affectionate. She understands boundaries but will try to test you to see what she can get away with. As long as you set your expectations early she will follow them. Overall Pippie is a loving dog that will make her forever family very happy."
