Russell - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Russell is a 2yo Lab X. He currently lives with his foster parents.

Russel is house and crate trained -- he loves to spend his time in his 'bedroom' snoozing away! He loves all people (even though he will occasionally let out a curious bark at a new friend) and couldn't get enough snuggles if he tried.

Russell is working on his on-leash skills. He barks at and pulls to other dogs on walks and has been practicing his 'loose leash' technique, as well as focusing on remaining calm and ignoring pesky distractions like squirrels and cats. Russell has a lot of learning to do as a young pup in a big body and will benefit from continued training and a strong leadership style. Creating consistent routines, rules and boundaries and reinforcing calm behaviours will be the key to success for this guy! He is very food motivated and eager to learn, which will make training extra fun :).

Here's what Russell's foster moms have to say about him:

"Russell has the potential to be the greatest dog ever he just needs some time to learn... we like to say that Russell was never given the opportunity to be a puppy and he's getting it all out now! He has shown us that he loves to play and makes for great company! He's eager to learn and when asked, he will do anything. He is food motivated so it makes him a great listener.

Russell still needs to work on maintaining calm behaviours inside. For example, when there is a knock on the door or a lot of new people around, he can get easily overstimulated and have a hard time settling down. He needs someone who will take the time to give him the structure and guidance that he needs to live up to his full potential. With that being said, when the time is right he will lay beside you and not make a peep -- Russell is just as happy to snooze as he is to play! Russel is affectionate, funny, smart, active and playful. Anyone would be lucky to have him and he deserves a home that is ready to put in the work to give this sweet boy the structure he's looking for."

Adoption Fee: $400

Vetting: Russell is fully vetted and on seasonal heartworm preventative. He has no known health concerns.

Russell is being fostered in Waterloo, ON.

**WHAT IS 'INTAKE HOLD?'**

Our new dogs are on an INTAKE HOLD. We will accept applications and emails from approved adopters, however, we do not know enough about them to make any matches at this time. Thank you in advance for your patience as we get to know their personalities in order to find the best matches for our dogs and adopters, alike!
