Tacoma - ON HOLD
Tacoma is a 1.5yo Husky X. She currently lives with her foster parents, two canine foster siblings and two cats... that she is not on good terms with ;).
Tacoma is fully house and crate trained. She has become more comfortable in her foster home and therefore more comfortable airing her grievances about settling into her crate by way of some whining and one Houdini escape. Overall, she can generally settle over time but will try to test her boundaries if she can! She gets along great with her canine foster siblings, though prefers hanging out solo to non-stop play. She's a little too interested in her feline counterparts and would do best in a home with zero cat distractions to worry about!
Tacoma is pretty easy going in nature. She likes to have some affection from her humans but is perfectly happy snuggled up on her dog bed or in her crate all on her own. She walks well on her transitional leash and when she does pull, responds well to corrections. She would thrive in a home that would continue with her training -- dogs (especially the smart ones!) love structure and rules!
Tacoma can take a bit of time to warm up to new situations and humans and likes to sit back and observe before getting comfortable. True to her husky roots, she can sometimes be heard singing the songs of her people to describe her feelings ;).
Here's what Tacoma's foster moms have to say about her:
"Tacoma is a beautiful, sweet young dog. She's lovely and calm in the house, settling well on a comfy dog bed in whatever room you're in. She really enjoys her leashed walks, prancing briskly with her head held high and her tail curled confidently on her back. She truly is a stunning dog to look at; the blue of her eyes is essentially impossible!
Beyond her looks, she's great with other dogs, but does prefer dogs that keep a little more to themselves and aren't overly boisterous. She accepts love and snuggles from her humans very well, but doesn't actively seek it out or need to be a 'lap dog.' She does like to be around her humans and has made her wishes known at times by using her beautiful husky singing voice to remind them to pay attention to her! Her behaviour around cats and other small animals (ie/ squirrels) can be be described as intense watchfulness, therefore it is not recommended that Tacoma share a home with any little creatures that can roam free in the house. She does not currently live with any children, but likely would be fine with kids of any age.
Like any dog, Tacoma would likely benefit from some formal training to continue to learn and grow the bond/trust with her new family. It does take some time to gain her trust and for her to feel comfortable in a new environment. Once settled in, she'll be a great dog for a lucky family for a long time!"
