Taffy's Legacy is a 100% volunteer and foster-home based rescue!
Our volunteer and foster base spans across Southern Ontario from London to the GTA!
At Taffy's Legacy, we are passionate about helping rescue dogs find their perfect humans. Our goal is to 'upcycle' homeless dogs by giving them the tools they need to succeed in their furever home.
The majority of our dogs are rescued through the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and other remote communities in Northern Ontario and Quebec.
We set the bar high with only the most ethical adoption and vetting protocols and standards. All dogs will come fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and spayed/neutered.
ADOPT
We couldn't function without our amazing fosters who volunteer their home, time and love, to giving these dogs a second chance. In foster care we get to know each dog's personality and their needs so that we can find the ultimate pairing of two-to-four-legger(s). We show them the ropes of being a human's best friend and then you -- the furever human -- can take it from there.
We are always looking for more foster homes! We can only take in as many dogs as we have foster homes.
FOSTER
We are 100% volunteer run and thus always in need of more helping hands and bright minds to raise awareness, fundraise, and process applications for our dogs! Our volunteers are invaluable. There are numerous ways volunteers help us including:

Assisting with reference checks and home visits

Transporting dogs

Handling TLC dogs at events

Helping set up/take down at events

Baking treats for events

Assisting in fundraising initiatives

Talking to the public about Taffy's Legacy and our available dogs
VOLUNTEER
We always welcome donations, whether cash or physical donations. Adoption fees helps cover basic vetting costs, however many of our dogs come from poor environments and require additional vet care or training. These costs are fully dependent on generous donations provided by the public.
We host a number of events and initiatives throughout the year to help raise money in support of our dogs, such as holiday photos and selling our annual calendar as well as various fundraisers to support specific dogs' needs.

We understand everyone has a varying capacity to help! If you are unable to adopt, foster, volunteer or donate, you can still do a lot to help our dogs.

OUR TEAM
WHO IS TAFFY?
This rescue was founded in loving memory of Taffy, the greatest American Bulldog that ever was. With her kind demeanor, Taffy touched everyone she met. She was a registered therapy dog and an amazing "bully breed" ambassador. Sadly, her time on earth was cut short at just 9 years old due to cancer.
Her legacy lives on in the many dogs she helped assess and save for Friendly Giants Dog Rescue. Taffy worked her magic on some of the most challenging dogs, and helped them transform into model family pets. Because of Taffy, we will always hold a special 'soft spot' for bully breeds in need of some extra TLC.
